Lampshade Making Workshop
Join us on this workshop where you will learn the techniques needed to make your own lampshade. This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn the craft of contemporary lampshade making. Sarah will take you through the process of making your very own unique drum lampshade. The workshop is aimed at beginners but is suitable for all abilities. There is no sewing involved in this class.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
Cut and measure accurately using a rotary cutter and scissors.
You’ll learn how to apply the lampshade PVC to get the best out of your fabric,
Learn how to attach the rings and create neat rolled edges.
Learn how to perfect the edge of the lampshade using special tools and techniques.
Bring your own fabric to create your lampshade or choose a fabric from our stash to make your shade.
Materials and equipment provided:
Lampshade rings in either 20cm or 30cm size.
Fabric from our stash. Or if you have a specific fabric in mind you can bring your own.
All other equipment and tools are also provided.
We will also provide tea and cake for a mid workshop break.
For a 20cm size lampshade you will need a 75cm x 25cm piece of fabric
For a 30cm size lampshade you will need a 110cm x 30cm piece of fabric
We recommend using a light to medium weight fabric, either a cotton, poly cotton or a linen/cotton mix.
